Choppers only. This summer the Trippers did 2,000 miles the long way from Portland, Oregon to Virginia City, Nevada for the annual Virginia City Roundup chopper show. We filmed, shot photos, and made a commemorative VHS and photo booklet to document the whole thing. Available to purchase here.
HERE IS WHAT WE DID.
ART DIRECTION
The art direction for Trippers was a tribute to the 1990s and the charm of antiquated media, leaning into grainy textures, muted tones, and handheld framing to bring authenticity to the story. The VHS format became a central element, both in the aesthetic of the short film and in the physical product we produced alongside it.
PHOTO/VIDEO
We captured the raw energy of the journey in real-time while riding with the pack, focusing on candid expressions and shifting terrain to produce a series that feels as dynamic and unfiltered as the trip itself, from the open desert highways to the woods and the show floor at Virginia City.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
We created a VHS version of the short film and a behind the scenes booklet, leaning into the nostalgic retro aesthetic throughout. From the VHS sleeve design to cassette labels, layout, and material choice, every detail was crafted to reflect the handmade, exploratory nature of the project. Both are available in the shop.
Portland International Motorcycle Film Festival
Trippers was selected for the Portland International Motorcycle Film Festival, joining a curated program of short films celebrating motorcycle culture, craftsmanship, and the open road. The selection recognized the film's authentic storytelling and its honest portrayal of chopper culture across 2,000 miles of American highway.
