How Much Does Lifestyle Photography Cost in Portland?

Lifestyle photography costs more than ecommerce photography because a shoot involves more people and more planning. The price depends on how many people are on set, how many days you need, and where you shoot. Here is what moves the number.

What's included in a production day?

A production day runs eight hours and yields six to ten looks, shot on a medium format system. The base covers photography, editing and retouching, studio or location space, and a production assistant who keeps the day on schedule. That is the starting point before anyone is in front of the camera.

What changes the price?

Talent, styling, and video are the main additions, and each is priced per day. Talent, a stylist, hair and makeup, and behind-the-scenes video each add to the base, and every additional shoot day repeats it. The behind-the-scenes video comes with three edits cut for product pages, ads, and social.

Location matters too. Travel, rentals, and permit fees are billed separately at cost. Studio work in Portland carries no travel fee.

How the price builds.

Every project starts with the base production day, which covers photography, editing, space, and a production assistant. Adding a model raises it, and a stylist, hair and makeup, and behind-the-scenes video raise it further. A fully staffed day costs noticeably more than a basic one, so the range between a small test shoot and a full campaign is wide. A single model is a common starting point for a brand testing lifestyle content for the first time, and your own total depends on how many people and days the shoot needs.

Planning a shoot in another city.

Lifestyle shoots don't have to happen in Portland. For Tellason, we planned the full campaign remotely, with shot lists, location references, and timelines settled before we arrived, then shot in San Francisco and Portland. Travel is billed at cost on top of the day rate.

Getting an accurate quote.

The fastest way to get a real number is the cost estimator, which uses the same rates we quote with. It opens with every option switched on, so turn off what you don't need. The days, talent, styling, and video go in, and a total comes out.
